Spaces That Support Learning

Aspen Public Schools takes pride in maintaining functional, student-centered campuses that reflect our commitment to safety, accessibility, and educational excellence. Our Facilities & Operations team supports every aspect of campus infrastructure—from custodial services and maintenance to safety compliance and modernization planning. While much of their work happens behind the scenes, their impact is seen and felt across all three campuses. Every repair made, surface cleaned, or system checked contributes to a healthier, more effective learning environment.

Maintenance & Repairs

Our team ensures all buildings, classrooms, and outdoor areas are well maintained throughout the year. Preventative maintenance is scheduled regularly, and any reported concerns are prioritized for prompt resolution. Staff members may report maintenance needs directly to the operations team through our internal request system.

Custodial Services

Campuses are cleaned daily to maintain a hygienic and comfortable learning environment. Custodial teams sanitize high-touch surfaces, maintain restrooms and common areas, and respond quickly to urgent cleaning needs throughout the day.

Safety & Compliance

Student and staff safety is a top priority at all Aspen campuses. Each site follows a comprehensive safety plan that includes emergency drills for fire, earthquake, and lockdown procedures. All visitors are required to sign in at the front office, and staff are trained annually on emergency protocols.

Campus safety plans include:

  • Regular emergency drills (fire, earthquake, lockdown)
  • Locked campus gates during school hours
  • On-site staff supervising arrival and dismissal
  • Visitor check-in required at the front office
  • Annual staff training on safety protocols

Our team also ensures:

  • ADA compliance across campuses
  • Up-to-date safety inspections
  • Fully stocked emergency supplies

If there is an emergency on campus, all three schools follow detailed protocols that prioritize student and staff well-being. Communication plans are in place to notify families as needed.

Safety procedures are outlined in student handbooks and communicated regularly to families.

Campus Enhancements

Our Facilities team leads ongoing improvements, ranging from small updates to larger renovations, such as:

  • Classroom upgrades (technology, lighting, furnishings)
  • Playground or garden space development
  • New paint, flooring, or landscaping
  • Outdoor seating or shade structures

Projects are prioritized based on need, budget, and educational benefit.

Community Use of Facilities

Certain spaces on Aspen campuses may be available for community events outside of school hours. Requests must:

  • Be submitted to the appropriate front office in advance
  • Align with school use policies
  • Include appropriate insurance and supervision

If you’re interested in renting a space or using school facilities, please contact the front office of the relevant campus. Availability is determined on a case-by-case basis.
